Math 2

Driving Project

For this project, we had to use the problem solving cycle. This is a cycle where you ask a good question, create a mathematical framework, and reflect on your results. Something that can happen with this cycle is you ask a good question but you just look up the answer and reflect on your results. The first cycle is a better option because you get to think and find your own results. Our questions had to be specific, answerable, and clear.

I was interested in researching sinking cars since it isn't a common topic. I generated a question in which I explored the physics of a sinking car. I found out how much time you had to escape when your car first hits the water, why you cant open the door right away, and how long it would take for the pressure to equalize before you can escape when you are underwater. To answer my question, I took all this information into consideration when I did the math. Once I found an answer, I was able to determine if you could escape before you ran out of air.
